Naomi McSwain
Naomi McSwain, executive director, has more than 20 years in nonprofit management, including more than 10 years as a youth center executive director. She has a BA degree in journalism from CSU Northridge, and an MA in intercultural studies with an emphasis in children at risk from Fuller Theological Seminary where she completed her thesis on gang prevention in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Compass Point's Fundraising Academy for Communities of Color and The Grantmanship Center's Project Grantmanship. Naomi formerly worked as a reporter for the Wave Newspapers, Pasadena Star-News and PBS Frontline. Covering gangs and education, she was inspired to address the issues she wrote about. Her community work includes serving as executive director of a youth center in Moreno Valley and as a youth development consultant for World Vision U.S.
Christelle Telesford Christelle Telesford, associate director, has a bachelor's degree in educational services management from CSU Long Beach. She oversees daily operations for our afterschool and summer camp programs, including supervising our staff, interns and volunteers and assisting our executive director with program development and administration. Christelle has served at the center since 2011 and is dedicated to helping our students excel in their academics and life.
Sindy Lopez Sindy Lopez, program administrator, has a BS in mathematics from CSU Dominguez. She graduated cum laude in 2012 and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated. Sindy teaches in our math and science labs, coordinates our homework and studies activities and assists with various administrative tasks. As an avid runner and head coach of our Girls on the Run classes, Sindy is committed to helping our students with their physical and character development.
